What Pottytree Puppets Offers

Pottytree Puppets offers a wide range of workshops.

Puppet Story Telling
An interactive session incorporating mime activities, make-believe story telling, role play, a moral dilemma and circle time discussion. These sessions are ideal for foundation stage, KS1 and KS2. KS2 sessions include group co-operation and puppet movement skills. All sessions incorporate a range of puppets including Mrs Pottytree, Princess Grace, Hugo the Giant, Sam Dragon, Charlie and Fred.

“Mrs Pottytree and her Flying Carpet” is now available as a hard back book suitable for 3–7 year olds. Please look at the menu section for an order form. The book is my parting gift when you book this workshop.

Social Education Sessions
Puppets provide a safe platform for discussion and exploration of sensitive issues such as bullying, drug education and citizenship. For all ages, I run workshops where the stimulus for reflection comes from a range of puppet monologues and then the students enact short scenarios to address these subjects. Teachers are amazed by the insight their students provide through this puppetry work.

Puppet Shows
A range of jokes, naughty puppets, a little piece of magic and general silliness makes up this fun show. My puppet theatre fits into most locations and there is always time for the children to choose from my box of puppets and become more involved.

Puppet Making
For this workshop I supply the resources and practical know-how so that you can create a range of puppet types. All ages enjoy my specially designed sock puppet which provides a great platform for practising puppet movement skills. I can also show you how to transform cuddly toys, household objects and pieces of foam into animated people and creatures. With just a little piece of magic, you'll be amazed at how lifelike your creations become. Once you've finished your puppet, take it over to my mini theatre and put on a puppet show.

I can also help you create large foam puppets which are ideal for secondary school productions. Additionally puppet making and performing is available for teacher training and master classes.

Bespoke Events
I can tailor a workshop to suit your specific needs. Below are a few examples of bespoke workshops that I've run previously:

A day of activities for young teenagers addressing bullying issues through enactment with puppetry.

A combination of story telling, puppet making and reflective work was highly effective when working with parents and their children through the Parenting Matters Trust.

For a nursery school, I created a 10 week rolling programme of workshops that covered aspects of the term's curriculum.

I organised a day of puppet making and performing activities which encouraged parents to play with their children, for a cultural festival.

I have held library story-time hour with puppets.

I have worked in play schemes to create puppets with a group of mixed aged children.

Birthday parties come in all shapes and sizes, and recently I worked with a group of children to create a puppet show for the parents at a mum's 40th celebration.
